Alex joined Steppingstone in 2024. Prior to Steppingstone, she worked at a variety of other Boston-area nonprofits including Boston By Foot, Revolutionary Spaces, and TDC Consulting. She holds an MBA in Leadership and Organizational Change from UMass Boston. When not at work Alex can often be found with her pets, particularly her dog, Gambit, and her bearded dragon, Cricket.

Kelsey is an experienced operations leader who has worked in climate research, community development, K-12 education, and healthcare. As a certified Project Management Professional, Kelsey has supported an array of organizations as they implement new programs and embark on systems transformation. At Steppingstone, Kelsey oversees business operations, including IT, office, and knowledge management strategy and implementation. Prior to joining Steppingstone in 2025, Kelsey worked as Managing Consultant of Health Policy at Mathematica and Data Partnership Manager at Boston After School & Beyond. She has her B.A. in Physics from Mount Holyoke College.

Kelly was first hired in 1990 as a consultant and joined the staff as Director of Development in 1992. After 18 years leading the development team, Kelly became president in 2010. Prior to Steppingstone, Kelly had worked in the development office at Dana Hall School and as the production editor of a trade magazine. She has a B.A. in English from Colby College and an M.A. in English from University College London. Originally from California, Kelly lives with her family in Boston’s South End.

Melodis Mejia was born in the Dominican Republic and earned a B.A. in Social Communication from Universidad Católica Santo Domingo. She joined Steppingstone in 2021 as Admin Coordinator, but has been involved with this beautiful family since 2019 when her daughter was nominated to be a Scholar. Her past work experience includes customer service, event coordination, management, and purchasing. Outside of work, Melodis enjoys being at home with her family, reading, hiking, volunteering, photography, and sharing traditions with her daughter and son.

Amy joined Steppingstone in 2025 as finance manager, bringing a strong background in nonprofit finance and a passion for mission-driven work. She earned her B.S. from Cornell University and M.S. in finance from Boston College. Before Steppingstone, she worked as a consultant and assistant business manager at the Meadowbrook School of Weston, where she discovered her love for student-centered environments. Amy has also held roles at Hadassah Boston, One Laptop Per Child, Harvard Business School Publishing, Brooks Automation, and AER. Amy lives in Greater Boston with her husband, daughter, and pet gecko. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, experiencing new cultures and foods, volunteering, watching movies, and spending time with family and friends.

Kerry Tirrell joined Steppingstone in 2008 and has spent the entirety of her 20+ year career working in the non-profit finance field. She graduated from Bentley University with a B.S. in Accountancy and, as the first within her immediate family to graduate from college, feels fortunate that she can apply her business education and experience to support the work of Steppingstone. Kerry grew up in Lynn, Massachusetts and currently resides in Peabody with her family. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her children, getting outdoors, and staying physically active by teaching fitness classes.
